It was a trope we couldn't resist, a right of passage every child and parent must pass through - the first spaghetti dinner. Oh the horror. This first pick gives us a nice overview of the damage. Oliver seemed miraculously incapable of getting the spaghetti on his outift, but found everywhere else to be an easy target.

Did he like the spaghetti? The impish grin below gives us a clue.

In the pick below, Oliver took a moment to let the spirit move him.

All in all a great time was had by everyone!

Simon's Birthday Party!

Oliver's very first X-mas was an exciting time. We had lots of people over, including Oliver's great grandmother Daisy!

The stockings were hung on the stairway with care. And overfilled to the point of absurdity!

Oliver kept everyone entertained by rocking out in the Jolly Jumper.

Catching Up!

Well a busy holiday season entertaining family and friends has created dead spot for updates, one I hope to fix now!

We recently started Oliver on solid foods - which has lead to a few giggles...

And of course...

Say Hello! to Mom's new device for carrying Oliver - The Moby! It's a wrap that creates a surprisingly comfortable harness for carrying him in a variety of positions. The best news is that it spreads his weight around - which means less lower back pain as he puts on weight. Dad says that it mysteriously fails to interfere with how Atomically Hot Oliver's Mom is. But nobody listens to Dad.

Even Dad likes Moby....this is from our walk to the Ugly Mug coffee shop.

Oliver continues to rock the Bumbo!

He also sat still long enough for us to take his picture on our couch - note the precisely folded hands!

That is so long as nobody interferes with his concentration...

Thanksgiving week Lunch with Oma and Opa

During our trip to the coast we had the opportunity to walk to Grandville Island for lunch.
Here we are prepping for a stroll along the seawall.

Opa and Dad got an opportunity to talk to Oliver before the ladies arrived from their shopping trip.

When the ladies arrived, Oliver got a chance to play with his new Toy!

One of the reasons this toy was so excellent is that it has a mirror on it that Oliver couldn't stop staring at!

Thanksgiving Trip!

We got a chance to visit with Oma and Opa in Vancouver over the Thanksgiving week. Lots of fun for the whole family, but it sure looked like Oma and Opa enjoyed the event!

Even Uncle Jason got in on the action...

One of Oliver's favourite things about the trip, was how Oma and Opa prepared for his arrival by picking up a new truck! The truck came complete with bells, whistles, music (really, really, really annoying music) and a flashing disco ball. Oma and Opa obviously enjoyed the purchase as the batteries were worn out with the first uses!

All in all, a fabulous time was had by all!

Oliver and Dad were watching the Canadian Juniors thrash the living snot out of the Russian kids the other day, and Mom used the opportunity to take some pics!

Note the golf tan, and slightly greasy-unwashed look Dad is rocking. This telecommuting from home thing is clearly not working for Dad at all.

These are from a few weeks back

We arrived at the airstrip just as it was getting started.
Mom took this pic of Oliver and dad on our way to the Hercules transport!

Here's Mom and some too interested for his own good fighter pilot.

We saw lots of different planes

We even got a chance to take our picture in the nose of one!

We saw that Miss Mitchell still looks pretty hot..

And then we noticed Oliver's name!

Eventually the airshow started in earnest, and along with looking at the planes we were treated to watching them swoop down on us at high speeds! Jets roared by, pulling their noses up to tail walk past us. Planes whipped by in tight formations, pulling loops, spins and other high speed tricks.

One thing we didn't count on ... the noise.
Pretty soon, the booms and pows that accompany super fast jet flybys started to upset Oliver.

So Mom, Dad and Oliver called it a day, and wrapped our first airshow!

Uncle Deryck spent many hard hours showing Oliver how to work the Halo controls for maximum killpower, little did he know Oliver is already on level 9.

After learning how advanced Oliver is with Halo, we see here how Uncle Deryck came to rely on Oliver for advice during matches.

Eventually, the fun loving Oliver wore everybody out.

Making Sausage at Little Bow

Oma and Opa came to town, so we grabbed them, the Grandparents, Oliver's Tante Linnea and Uncle Mike, and (of course) cousin Dexter! and we all headed up to Little Bow to relax - and to make sausage!

In the above picture, Dexter finds out that we are making sausage, but that he won't be helping.

Here's a shot of some of the guys playing with meat. Oliver is hugging Grandma in the background.

Whenever the women folk got too uppity about the All-Male Meat-O-Rama we pointed out this label on the sausage machine. Pay special attention to 'Cautions: #2'. Heh

Dexter, blocked from joining the All-Male Meat-O-Rama by the niggling age requirement, spent the day playing with Omas and Grandmas.

Oliver showed his displeasure at being excluded by having a long nap...

...and then by joining Mom who was relaxing in the hammock.

Everyone enjoyed the day, and most importantly, the All-Male Meat-O-Rama produced enough pork sausage to feed a small nation!

Dexter's first Birthday!

Dexter's party started off as all good parties should, half-naked in the backyard.

Opa Jack leads Dad and Oliver to the shore of Little Bow.

Oliver shows how excited and impressed he is with the shores of the Little Bow by falling fast asleep shortly after we arrived at the waters edge. Just before he fell asleep, he mentioned to everyone how much he loved the cabin, and was looking forward to coming back. Then he danced the first three Fred Astaire routines from 'Singing in the Rain', and crashed.

Oliver has it made in the shade. Which is good, because both his parents presented the symptoms of moderate radiation burns over 15% of our bodies the following day.

As you can see, Oliver is way beyond excited to celebrate the birthday of his nation. Way beyond.

Our first stop was to the original Fort Whoop-up to take in the activities. Dad was particularily pleased because we fluked out and got excellent parking.

From thence it was off to the park where children of all ages were present. Ther was easily a $M worth of Graco baby/infant products - in particular their four wheel drive strollers. Haidee ran into some family friends, we ate some candy, Oliver continued his nap.

Jason told us how stoked he was that we had named our son after one of the basic skateboard tricks.

Apparently, an 'Ollie' is where you stomp on the tail of the board in order to make it leap off the ground.

Uh...not exactly. But I wouldn't put it past Uncle Jason to have already planned out what skateboards to start him on once the basics of locomotion are achieved.

Oliver still needs to wear his mittens in this picture, and we also get a chance to photograph him doing something marvelous - sleeping soundly.

On his arrival, Oliver had a head full of thick dark hair. In the days since, it has lightened considerably, and threatens to take on either the dirty blonde of his father, or (more likely) eventually morph into the auburn locks of his gorgeous mother.

Oliver Fraser Hilton arrived in the world at 20:31pm on May 13th - giving his Mother the best Mother's day gift ever. He weighed in at 8lbs 4oz, and was 50.2 centimeters long.

Oliver will be sharing his thoughts, viewpoints and most important of all his most recent pictures with friends and family!

In the above photo, we have Oliver at 24 hours old. He's in mittens because the extra wait we had for his arrival (13 days) gave his fingernails a chance to grow to long and sharp. The abrasion on his cheek was the result of him flailing himself in the face with these razor sharp claws.

I checked with the doctors on this and they insist there is no chance this is a mutant ability manifesting itself early.

Oliver was a little slow in deciding to join us, and when this tardiness stretched out to almost two weeks his Mom decided enough was enough. Eventually she took the advice of her mid-wife and drank a cocktail of orange-juice and Castor Oil in an effort to kick start her labour, and bring Oliver to the world.
